Bio
David Joyner is an eighth generation eastern North Carolinian proud to live, work, and now serve on city council in Wilmington. He is the son of two retired public school teachers; he attended N.C. public schools from his first day of Kindergarten until the day he graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. He attended Campbell Law School, becoming a teaching assistant and earning membership on the Campbell Law Review.
David's professional background as an attorney has given him experience at the N.C. Court of Appeals, the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of N.C., two separate appointments as an Assistant District Attorney, and a stint in private practice representing survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. He is a past Young Lawyer of the Quarter of the N.C. Bar Association.
David is a member of St. James Episcopal Church, an Eagle Scout, and enjoys working with environmental and conservation groups in Wilmington.
