The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Services was established in FY24 to oversee activities and functions focused on creating diverse, equitable, and vibrant neighborhoods through community development and housing services, code enforcement, and community engagement, education, and safety.

June is Home Ownership Month

This year's event will be held on June 29, 2024, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Center! 

Homeownership is key to helping families attain stability and build generational wealth, and HUD works hard every day to make that opportunity available to all—especially to underserved communities. Home Ownership Month with our annual event. Also, stay tuned for other opportunities to get involved with Home Ownership Month.


Public Comment Period for FY 24/25 Annual Action Plan

The City of Wilmington announces a Public Comment Period on the City’s DRAFT Annual Action Plan FY24.25(PDF, 8MB) for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) & HOME Programs and a Public Hearing Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 6:30 p.m.at the Wilmington City Hall Council Chambers, 102 North 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. 

The Public Comment Period and Public Hearing is an opportunity for the citizens of Wilmington to comment on the plan noted above. The 30-day Public Comment Period will begin on May 16, 2024, and ends June 17, 2024. For more information and to access a copy of the plan please visit FY25 Annual Action Plan.

Also, citizens who would like to comment during the Public Comment Period can do so by email to gilbert.combs@wilmingtonnc.gov no later than 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
