The City of Wilmington is strongly committed to providing high-quality parks, recreation facilities and programs for citizens of and visitors to the community. The City of Wilmington worked with a consultant to develop a Parks, Recreation & Open Space Comprehensive Plan. This plan includes a system-wide analysis, which will create a strategy for park and facility improvement, maintenance and development throughout the community now and into the future.

The City of Wilmington, in collaboration with the community and stakeholders, has developed its first Urban Forestry Master Plan. The tree inventory and management plan are essential tools to help protect and enhance the city’s urban forest resources.
