We have three categories of volunteers within the Parks & Recreation Department. We accept teens (ages 14-17) as well as adults (ages 18 and above).
One-Time Volunteers
Individuals who wish to volunteer less than one day (2 to 6 hours)
Examples:
- Park Beautification (i.e., mulching, trash pick-up, pulling weeds)
- Assist with one-time Special Events
- Share talents (i.e., external activity instructor) with Afterschool/Athletic Program participants
Short-Term Volunteers
Individuals who wish to volunteer on a temporary basis for 25 hours or less.
Examples:
- Kids Night Out Program (Davis Center at Maides Park)
- Spring Break Camp (MLK & Davis Community Centers)
- Family Movie Night Series (MLK Center)
Long-Term or On-going Temporary Volunteers
Individuals that choose to volunteer with the Parks & Recreation Department on an on-going basis for more than 25 hours. On-going volunteers may choose a regular schedule on a weekly or monthly basis.
Examples:
- Afterschool Program (MLK & Davis Community Centers)
- Summer Day Camp Program (MLK & Davis Community Centers)
- Athletic Program Coach (Rotating locations)
