Fire Headquarters: 801 Market Street

Fire HQ

Built in 1999, this 32,000-square foot facility consists of four apparatus bays. Station 1/Headquarters houses fire administration, the marine/dive division, apparatus and vehicle maintenance, and a three-company fire station. This station’s response area includes the central business district of historic downtown Wilmington, which includes the riverfront, as well as a densely populated residential area. The marine/dive division responds to incidents on or along the waterways. An Operations Battalion Chief – District 1, an engine companies, a truck company, and a Squad are housed here.

Station 2: 3403 Park Avenue

Station 2

Built in 2011, this facility consists of three apparatus bays. The department’s heavy rescue is housed here along with one Engine Company. The department’s technical rescue team is housed in this station and responds to motor vehicle crashes that require extrication as well as technical rescue situations including confined spaces, structural collapses, trench, and high-rise rescues. NHRMC deploys an emergency medical transport unit from Station 2. This station’s response area encompasses a commercial corridor that includes Independence Mall as well as residential neighborhoods. The Wilmington Fallen Firefighters Memorial is located in front of the station along the Gary Shell Cross City Trail.

Station 3: 114 Cinema Drive

Station 3

Built in November 2015, Station 3 spans more than 14,000 square-feet. The station has four bays that house one engine company, a Squad, a foam unit, and the Shift Safety Officer. The building also includes a multi-purpose training room. This station’s response area includes the Market Street and Kerr Avenue corridors, as well as a portion of the densely populated UNCW campus and surrounding residential area.

The building is certified as a LEED Silver building and was built to be environmentally responsible and serve as a resource to the community. A few features of this building are:

  • lighting and temperature are controlled at each room to promote productivity, comfort, and wellbeing of building occupants.
  • facility is located within 1/4 mile of stops for two bus lines, encouraging the use of public transportation.
  • building uses solar thermal energy to heat water for showers and heat the radiant slab located in the fire truck bay.
  • 20% of the construction materials used were manufactured within 500 miles of Wilmington.

Station 5: 680 Shipyard Boulevard

Station 5

In 2019, Station 5 was opened at 680 Shipyard Boulevard near Carolina Beach Road. The new station houses both Engine 5 and Truck 5 companies. The new location enables firefighters to provide services to the growing commercial and residential population in the southwest corridor of the City.

Station 7: 3230 South College Road

Station 7

Built in 1999, this 7,000-square foot facility consists of three apparatus bays. Station seven is a two-company fire station that houses an engine and a truck company as well as the department’s hazardous materials response team. This team responds to local and regional hazardous material incidents that require specialized training and equipment to mitigate or control the situation. This station’s response area includes the South College Road corridor, residential neighborhoods and commercial locations.

Station 8: 601 Eastwood Road

Built in 2001, this 7400-square foot facility consists of three apparatus bays. This is a two-company station that houses a Squad and a truck company. This station’s response area includes Corning’s fiber optic plant, Eastwood Road, South College Road, and Market Street corridors as well as a portion of the densely populated UNCW campus and surrounding residential area.

Station 9: 1201 Military Cutoff Road

Built in 2001, this 7400-square foot facility consists of three apparatus bays. This is a single company station. Station 9’s response area includes the growing Military Cutoff Road commercial and residential areas and properties located along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Station 10: 6102 Oleander Drive

Station 10

Built in 2008, this 7800-square foot facility consists of three apparatus bays. This is a single company station. One engine, Operations Battalion Chief - District 2, and the mobile air unit are housed here. The mobile air unit is used by firefighters to fill their air bottles during incidents. Station 10’s response area includes the Oleander Drive corridor, Greenville Loop Road residential areas, and properties located along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Station 15: 3335 Masonboro Loop Road

Station 15

Built in 2006, this 8000-square foot facility consists of three apparatus bays. This is a single company station. This station’s response area primarily includes residential properties along Pine Grove and Masonboro Loop Roads, as well as properties located along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
