Off-Duty Officer Contracting

The Wilmington Police Department, under the direction of Chief Donny Williams, recognizes the growing security needs of the public and private sector. As a result, a program was developed offering services provided by police officers while they are off-duty.

Police Officers will be in full uniform and are available 24-hours a day. This service is provided within the Wilmington city limits only and is supported by hourly fees paid by clients for services provided.

Forty-eight hours advance notice is requested to ensure adequate staffing of the contract.

• Banks
• Credit Unions
• Grocery Stores
• Movie and Television Production Companies
• Jewelry Stores
• Churches
• Private Individuals
• Five and 10K Races
• Movie Theaters
• Department Stores
• Conventions
• Construction Projects
• Funeral Escorts
• Hotels/Motels

Contract rates for officers:

• Hourly Rate per officer: $46 per hour (there is a four-hour minimum on all contracts)
• Marked Police Cruisers: $25 per vehicle (if the vehicle is used for four hours or less)
• $50 per vehicle (if the vehicle is used for more than four hours)
  * A police cruiser cannot be requested without an officer.
