STING Center

STING Center Mission Statement

The Mission of the Situational Tactics & Intelligence Nexus Group (STING) Center is to provide relevant real-time information to increase situational awareness of the Wilmington Police Department in order to improve the safety of officers and the public.

What is the STING Center?

The STING center gathers information from all sources in a lawful manner to provide strategic and tactical information on the existence, identities, and capabilities of criminal suspects and enterprises to further crime prevention and enforcement. The STING Center is manned by police officers and civilian personnel.

What type of information does the STING Center use?

The STING Center uses a variety of information from multiple outlets, including citizens. Pertinent information from citizens includes tips on wanted subjects, crimes in progress (when it is not possible to call 911), geographical crime hotspots, criminal conspiracy, or any safety concerns that could be addressed by law enforcement officials.
