The City of Wilmington is committed to providing exceptional services to its residents, ensuring the high quality of life the community deserves. Dedicated crews annually service more than 31,000 residential trash customers, collect more than 6,500 tons of recycling, sweep more than 10,000 miles of streets, improve more than 1,400 linear feet of sidewalk, and repair 7,000 potholes each year.
Cultivating a culture of environmental stewardship through its services, city teams work hard to protect our ecosystem by maintaining the stormwater drainage system and reducing waste.
Our service teams also focus on mobility, managing over 2,600 on-street metered spots and 3,346 off-street public parking spaces which includes six parking decks and two surface lots. The City of Wilmington also partners with the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization to advance transportation planning in the area.
Within neighborhoods, city employees leverage federal and local money to help preserve housing stock, repair structures, and maintain safe, vibrant neighborhoods.
