As of July 2011, North Carolina state legislation banned TVs and computers from NC landfills. Electronics recycling includes computers, monitors, TVs and cell phones, etc.

City of Recycling & Trash Services customers can schedule a TV or computer/monitor collection by appointment by calling 910.341.7875.

New Hanover County's Environmental Management department accepts household hazardous waste materials six days a week including electronics. New Hanover County residents can take electronics to the New Hanover County Environmental Management Office located at 3002 Hwy 421 N Wilmington 28401 (former WASTEC). By North Carolina Law, all computer equipment manufacturers, including makers of desktops, laptops, computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards and mice must offer a no-cost recycling program to North Carolina households.
