The Heal Our Waterways Program worked with New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District to fund and install 6 residential rain gardens and 1 backyard wetland on private properties in the Bradley and Hewletts Creeks Watersheds. Altogether, the projects will capture up to 326 cubic feet, or 2,439 gallons, of stormwater runoff each time it rains. This is part of an initiative to improve water quality in Bradley Creek and Hewletts Creek by slowing down and soaking in stormwater runoff from roofs, driveways, and other hard surfaces before it can wash pollutants, like bacteria, into the creeks.

Visit the Who's Helping? tab to see pictures of the completed projects. If you live near Bradley Creek or Hewletts Creek and are also interested in applying for a FREE rain garden, visit the Take Action tab to submit an application!
