Hewletts Creek was recently recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for restoration work in the watershed. While harvesting shellfish is still prohibited within the creek, recent reports from the NC Division of Marine Fisheries have shown improvements in water quality. With over 150 nature-based stormwater solutions installed throughout the watershed, there is reason to celebrate the hard work put in by the community to support the Bradley and Hewletts Creeks Watershed Restoration Plan.
Thank you to everyone that has played a role in healing Hewletts Creek! There is still work to do, but this recognition shows that we are making a difference.
