Construction on permeable pavement retrofits in UNCW’s Randall parking lot began this month, coordinated by North Carolina Coastal Federation (NCCF) and UNCW.

This project is part of an EPA 319 Grant awarded to NCCF, in partnership with the City of Wilmington’s Heal Our Waterways Program and UNCW, to improve water quality in Bradley Creek. Projects funded by the grant focus on reducing the volume of stormwater runoff that can wash pollutants, like bacteria, into the creek. When completed, the new permeable pavement will infiltrate and treat approximately 14,807 gallons of stormwater runoff each time it rains! The permeable pavement is expected to be fully installed in early July.
