New Hanover Soil and Water Conservation District is incorporating a new financial assistance program into its monthly rain barrel sales. While normally the rain barrels are sold for $85 (which is a 50% discount from retail prices), eligible residents can receive a free one. To apply, fill out the eligibility form online here: Free Rain Barrel Registration Form
Rain barrels are helpful for slowing down stormwater runoff from rooftops before it can wash pollutants into local waterways. Use the water stored in a rain barrel to water flowers, wash surfboards, or even irrigate your lawn!
