UNCW Sustainability and volunteers, including staff, students, and faculty, worked together to plant 75 native trees across campus on February 24th. These trees were provided by the Heal Our Waterways Program to support the ongoing stormwater grant to improve water quality in Bradley Creek. Installing nature-based solutions, like trees, helps to slow down and soak in stormwater runoff before it can wash pollutants, like bacteria, into local waterways. UNCW is the largest landowner in the Bradley Creek Watershed. Partners on the EPA-funded 319 grant include the North Carolina Coastal Federation, UNCW, and the City of Wilmington's Heal Our Waterways Program.

The species of trees planted include long leaf pine, swamp white oak, bald cypress, October Glory maple, and live oak.
