MRF in Action lesson kit(PDF, 490KB) is available for area teachers to checkout at the UNCW Curriculum Materials Center, located in the Education building, room 127. The MRF Lesson follows state standards and objectives for 4th graders. This lesson can be adapted to fit any grade level. For more details, please see the lesson plan.

Materials Recovery Facility Overview

Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it leaves your home? Enter the world of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) - the centers that sort and separate our recycling. In this lesson, students will navigate their way through the sorting process, learning about the technology and tools used to turn yesterday's trash into tomorrow's treasures.
