What is Minimum Housing Code?

If you are having any of these problems with your rental home or neighboring properties:

What is a Minimum Housing Code Violation?

Damaged interior walls, dangerous health and safety conditions such as dilapidation, decay or unsanitary conditions; inadequate ventilation, light heating or sanitary condition; improper electrical or plumbing deterioration of supporting outside walls, siding or improperly distributed load of floor or roof system.

Is a junked/abandoned or a health and safety hazard vehicle prohibited?

Junked vehicles are prohibited on a residential zoned property unless stored in a rear yard with an approved cover. No more than one Junk vehicle is permitted on a property at any time. Health and Safety Hazard Vehicles are prohibited. Abandoned vehicles that are left longer than seven (7) days on the street or longer than two hours on private property without consent of the owner or occupant are also prohibited.

What is an approved cover?  A car cover designed to fit your vehicle, NOT A TARP.

 

Can I have chickens on my property in the city limits?

Chickens being kept on residential properties within the Wilmington City limits require a poultry permit and must meet several requirements including the property being at least 15,000 square feet. You can apply for a poultry permit by clicking on the link below:

Can I park my recreational vehicle in my driveway?

When do I have to remove my City Trash Carts from curbside?

Your city trash and recycle carts must be removed from curbside before midnight on your pick-up day. If they are not removed you could receive a $50 fine per day.
